Given the combat load and off-road movement, the HMMWV suspension has increased wear. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly inspect the springs, levers, hinges, shock absorbers, ball joints. The first stage is a visual inspection and testing on a stand to detect backlash and deformations.
Damaged or worn suspension elements are dismantled and replaced with reinforced analogues. Steering components are also checked: steering rack, linkages, dampers, hydraulic booster. After repair, camber-toe adjustment and suspension travel control are performed on specialized equipment.
Thanks to the correct adjustment of the chassis, stability is ensured on bends, steering clarity, vibration and tire wear are reduced, which is critically important for military operations.
