Transmission and transfer case maintenance

In addition to a powerful engine, the KrAZ is equipped with a transmission that provides all-wheel drive and the ability to switch driving modes depending on road conditions. For reliable operation, all its components require regular monitoring. The first stage is to check the transmission fluid level, the presence of metal shavings and the quality of the lubricant.

If problems are detected, the automatic transmission is disassembled: the wear of the clutches, couplings, gears and torque converter is assessed. The seals, bearings and filters are replaced. Diagnostics are also performed and, if necessary, the electronic transmission control unit is flashed, which allows you to avoid "failures" when shifting gears.

The transfer case is checked separately: the condition of the gears and differential lock mechanisms is inspected, and synchronization with the drive shafts is checked. Post-repair testing includes running in different modes (4x2, 4x4), simulating slippage, and checking for leaks after assembly.
