For armored vehicles, it is extremely important to have an effective braking system that can withstand the weight of the vehicle and ensure safe braking in any conditions. Diagnostics begins with checking the brake pads, discs, drums (in the case of a mixed system), the condition of the hoses, cylinders and brake fluid.
If necessary, brake elements are replaced, new pads with a high coefficient of friction, ventilated brake discs and reinforced hoses are installed to prevent expansion under pressure. The brakes are also bled to remove air and ensure clear pedal pressing.
The final stage is to check the effectiveness of the brakes on the stand — the braking distance is measured, the symmetry of the force on the wheels is checked, and the ABS system, if present, is checked. All this ensures maximum safety for the crew even in difficult tactical situations.
